Our focus\u00a0is both on\u00a0the historical past\u00a0and the ethnographic present, with an emphasis on periods of social and cultural transition.\u00a0We primarily draw our case studies\u00a0from the Ottoman\/post-Ottoman and Eastern\u00a0Mediterranean\u00a0world in the transition to modernity, yet always maintaining a strong comparative perspective.\u00a0We are interested in the interplay between method and knowledge, and the enabling role of digital humanities therein.
